A study by J.Min, M.U Farooz, etl., (2009) indicates proof of global heart dysfunctions related to stroke damage to the left insular cortex, showing the intricate connection between heart, mind and brain.

Most people believe the heart responds to orders from the brain, however, science now indicates that the heart actually sends more signals to the brain than the brain to the heart; influencing emotional and cognitive faculties such as attention, perception, memory and problem-solving. It is noted that the heart responds to the brain and the brain to the heart. It has also been shown that distressing emotional states have a negative effect on the brain functions whereas a positive emotional state has a positive effect on brain function.

Heart rates vary (HRV) constantly as effected by the autonomic nervous system (ANS) which permits appropriate reactions to changing internal and external condition and serves as an important indicator of health and fitness.

The heart is as important, if not more so, than the brain in attaining a stable, balanced, healthy life-style. Whilst the intelligent quotient (IQ) was much focused on in the earlier years and thought of as a means to select the best of students, workers and academics, the past two decades or so has scientifically shown the importance and Emotional Intelligence (EI/EQ) strengths when selecting successful candidates in all spheres of life.

A4 Consulting recognizes the importance of a balanced IQ and EI and focuses programs of motivation, mentoring, training and development on the four A’s (Altitude, Attitude, Aptitude and Action) incorporating important facets of emotional stability and cognitive ability into our talks, courses and programs.

We look forward to interacting and walking alongside you to make a difference!
